nothing…

April 21, 2008

yeah. I’ve got nothing good to say today…

I do however have…

this really neat picture of the full moon I took this weekend. (yes…I said neat)

this fun and exciting picture of “clean all’ a prop from this weekends youth service.. (yes…it was suppose to look cheesy with the hand drawn label…I think…)

a picture of the boys playing at ignite…

my favorite little boy in the whole world…(with chocolate chip cookie on his face.)

yep, that about sums up the weekend…

I Prefer The OTHER Kind of Shake…

April 18, 2008

Earthquakes in the Midwest are not a good thing…

(and… I’m pretty sure that California is laughing at us all right now…because atleast where I am there is little damage…no one is hurt that I’ve heard of…but everyone is freaking out… )

I haven’t slept well all week…so I wasn’t motivated to get out of my bed to survey the situation.  I was in that half awake but still mostly asleep mode…

The last thing I thought as I was being shaken awake this morning was that there was an actual earthquake taking place.

(If I knew I might have been more concerned…and then again …maybe not)

As I laid there I did think of some other possible scenarios for what was actually happening…

*  Fort Knox has gone wild … (and then I thought It would be nice if Fort Knox wait till after breakfast to practice heavy artillery fire.)

*The train that runs behind our house must have derailed.

*Is this another tornado?

*The possibility I might have given myself brain damage trimming the hedges yesterday with the ancient power tools/crazy vibrating hedge trimmers…The Vibrations are all in my head…

* Meth Lab explosion? (not that there are any Meth labs near my house…that I know of…but sounds more probable than an earthquake in Kentucky.)

* I shouldn’t have stayed up and watched Eli_Stone  Finale.  That’s what I get for watching t.v.  Now I’m dreaming I’m in the show… (f.y.i.  Eli has visions of a earthquake…that no one else sees or feels…I don’t watch TV much anymore…but I like this show.)

* If something is blowing up or crashing into my house… I’m gonna have to get out of bed. I sill have 30 minutes to sleep…If I hear sirens I’ll check it out…maybe.

* Maybe it’s not as real as I think it is…my husband isn’t waking up…Is the bed really shaking?  Certainly he would be up if this was serious… (and then I remembered that John can sleep through anything… Like the time there was a major car accident in our FRONT YARD… 2 ambulances and a Fire truck sirens blaring…I was on my way home and I though our house was burning down because of all the police cars and traffic back up…and he was asleep on the couch in the front room and had missed the whole thing.) And now…I can say he can sleep through an earthquake and really mean it.

Anyway…I went back to sleep.

( on a side note I grew up very close to where the fault line in Southern Illinois  where the earthquake originated…)

I’m getting good at this natural disaster stuff…

Since February…Tornadoes,

A Flood (that I didn’t think was that bad, but schools closed),

Largest snow storm in recent history

and now a Earthquake.

Take_this_survey  if you felt the quake.

Fact of Childhood…

April 18, 2008

I’m not really sure why this is…

but

Candy that comes from other countries tastes  better than regular old candy from home…

(especially when you think the person that brought it back to you is way cool)  :)

thanks Bethany. :)

Cleaning Out Your Car is a Good Thing.

April 17, 2008

Alright, I’ll admit it.

I need to clean out my car more often.

But, look at what I found in my glove box recently.

If you don’t know what these are…

I’m sorry.

It would take too long to tell the story.

And… there is a possibility that it wouldn’t make sense…

(and yes… they are 2 Fuji disposable camera’s with little yellow stickers)

If you do know…do you remember that night?

Seems like another world.

 a different lifetime…

Great memories are precious.

How I’d Rather Spend 4 Bucks…

April 16, 2008

I’m not much of a commentator on the state if our economy…

But the prices at the grocery store are getting crazy…

and…

I have started to fill up my gas tank $10 at a time so I don’t cry…

There is a possibility that I may never have a full gas tank again.

This morning I put my ten bucks in my car  at $3.45 a gallon.

The news says to expect a ten cent jump for the weekend and prices at $4 a gallon by early summer.

Sheesh.

Instead of complaining… (more than I already am)

(or taking it out on the poor gas station attendant… like the crazy old guy I saw… making a huge scene and calling them robbers…and telling the nice lady she was murdering him… even though the poor attendant  is probably making peanuts herself…and obviously is not setting the gas prices…she is just working the morning shift at the Shell station…but whatever makes you feel better old angry guy… I personally think we should be nicer to the gas station attendants before they become the next “postal workers”…)

anyway

I’ve decided to dwell on all the things I’d rater be doing with my $4.

xxxxxxxx

Today, I had a very unhealthy breakfast at MC Donald’s for $4…

I do not condone in anyway shape or form eating at MC Donald’s…

I’m not sure what came over me…

but…FYI

you can have a Vanilla Iced Coffee

iced vanilla coffee

and

a biscuit with sausage gravy

biscuit-gravy-ck-1023868-l.jpg biscuit-gravy-ck-1023868-l.jpg image by bahhbahh

for just under the 4 dollar mark.

…even though I picked out all the sausage in the gravy…

because I’m not comfortable with what it might be made of…

and scraped off most of the gravy because…well..the same reason…

On further examination I should have just gotten a plain biscuit….because apparently that’s what I really wanted.

But….anyway

I’d rather spend my 4 bucks on that…  (and about a dozen other things) :)

What would you spend your $4 on if it wasn’t going in the tank?

Don’t Judge me…

April 15, 2008

Sometimes you just have to be nice…

so

Don’t Judge me…

But, when I was in Middle school I was pretty sure I was going to marry Carman_Licciardello.

And no..at the time I didn’t comprehend the fact that he is old enough to be my father…

(I never had New Kids or *N Sync…sometimes the Preachers Kid had to be P.C.)

In total, I attended 4 Carman concerts.

(which were always free..and packed out)

Owned every cassette he produced until The Standard (1994)..

(which I still have in a shoe box somewhere in my garage)

Had “OFFICIAL”  God’s Got an Army dog tags.

Owned several Carman t-shirts and various other wearable memorabilia pieces.

I even wrote him a very heart felt letter about how much I appreciated his ministry… that his mother responded to…

And yes..right next to my DC Talk poster hung my Carman poster in my bedroom. (autographed and framed)

In fact a..(a little family history here)  the only reason I gave my current husband the time of day the first time we met was because of the Addicted to Jesus Carman shirt he happened to be wearing… He turned off my Carman cassette tape in my Sony Walkman trying to get my attention…and that was a deadly sin.  He was lucky he had proof he was a Carman lover.

(and he was hot, so that helped out a lot too… )

If you were sheltered as a child and don’t know who Carman is…(alright, that might have been a bad joke.)

here you go…

Another song and video from the Amanda archive of music…

drumroll please……..

A Contemporary Christian/Western Music Video with devils and guns by a guy from New Jersey.

(come on, what else is there?)

( I think we are all glad I grew out of this one…)

*Where is Carman now?  I’m not sure.  I think he went on later to make some praise and worship and hymn albums. Maybe a little TBN. I’m not gonna lie…I still have love for Carman.  I never went to a summer camp where I didn’t see some interpretation of a Carman song in the form of a drama.  Champion anyone?  If you are part of the Carman fan club please don’t send me hate mail.

So, I was just thinking…

April 14, 2008

(that’s right…there’s no place like home.)

I’m sure I’ll have more to say later.

I’ve still got some thinking to do.
